Barangaroo Pier Pavilion Competition

In 2020 Jarjoura Design, in collaboration with Swerve Design and Delta Architects pitched an exciting design concept for the proposed Barangaroo Pier Pavilion, as part of a competition.

The brief for the Pavilion was that it should function as a sheltered meeting point, where people could interact, relax, contemplate and enjoy the natural beauty of the area, within an urban landscape. It should be a place that embraces the site’s rich history, but also looks to the future.

The concept we put forward was inspired by the land’s Aboriginal cultural history, as well as the natural beauty of the site, embracing past, present and future.

Our ideas were interpreted by our choice of forms, shapes, colours and textures bringing a free-spirited sensibility to our final design.

Ultimately our proposal didn’t win the competition, however we revelled in the opportunity to research, create and conceptualise such an iconic structure. Congratulations to the winners Jessica Spresser  + Peter Besley.
